The perfect email setup… for me
Email has always been a problem for me. Using web interfaces is a pain. Even the new JavaScript, single-page apps nowadays are bloated and slow. You can't compare them to evolution, thunderbird or even outlook 
Most Email Service Providers (ESPs) do provide POP3, but POP3 doesn't support folders and is not a good option if you would like to access your mail from multiple locations.
So what is the solution? IMAP or the Internet Message Access Protocol gives me all the features I need: read more »

A TRIP TO EILAT (ELAT/ EYLAT) - الطريق الي إلات
I am organizing a trip with my friends in Eid... we wanna go to Sinai... to Nuweiba, Dahab, and Taba... We will have like 3 days off from school and we want to take an extra 3 days plus the weekend... We wanna go on a relaxing trip and we don't wanna go to Sharm because it turns into a ridiculously crowded and commercial place during the festive seasons... Everyone I wanna avoid is there - everything I wanna stay away from is there... but still... I love Sinai and I've been on several trips driving and camping through this lovely region of nature and of beauty... I'm very excited...

Hard disks in the freezer. Not a myth?
Last week one of hard disks in our cluster failed. all of a sudden it was not detectable by the BIOS and it emits loud clicking noises. It had 3 Xen guests running on it and as they were work in progress I stupidly did not back them up! One of the guests was the web server and it had the wiki with all the documentation on it. Needless to say I was in a very bad way. However I had read about this idea of putting the hard disk into a freezer for a while. I didn't really have anything to lose so I decided to try. read more »
I’ve moved at last
Ahhh, at last I have moved out of Fenner Hall. No more wiping yellow splotches off the toilet seats for me. No more camping outside the laundry room just to get a chance at using the washing machine. I am my own man now
Undo “add to dictionary” in Firefox
Sometimes I accidentally add a misspelled word to the dictionary in Firefox. While trying to undo this, I found that the only way to do it is manually as per this post.
