My camera has been having some dust issues lately. What a surprise considering that it gets tossed into my bag anywhere I go whether on foot, horseback or in the car. I take it everywhere and there's dust everywhere in Egypt. After two years any digital camera would get a little sticky, so I took it into Panasonic in Nasr City, where, of course, the camera opened and closed perfectly. The guy at the service desk handed it back, saying that it was fine and was rather bemused when I suggested that it might need...GASP!...service. I walked out with a receipt for my beloved Lumix and a promise that it would cost between 50 and 500 LE and would be finished in ten days. read more »

Last year one of my friends witnessed a big street fight that took place down town in Ramadan because of a girl wearing cut off sleeves during fasting hours. Some guy kept insulting her because of her utter insensibility exposing her arms and parts of her shoulders during fasting hours. How dare she leave her house in the hot hours of the Ramadan day not covering her arms? yalahwy!! They must have thought that she planned to expose her skin to lure fasting men into fantasizing about her luscious arms and loosing their spiritual status of suppressing desire during fasting... yeah right... so it wasn't because of the hot whether?
