“I hate soldiers. I hate to see a man with a bayonet fixed on his rifle, who can order me off the street.”
John Reed, “The Worst Thing in Europe,” The Masses, March 1915… I hate soldiers. I hate to see a man with a bayonet fixed on his rifle, who can order me off the street. I hate to belong to an organization that is proud of obeying a caste of superior beings, that is proud of killing [...]
Egypt-Iran
Ok this is turning to a silly thing like that silly old game "Egypt - Syria"
The Egyptian regime used it as a means to launch an attack against Iran and its regime. It was a golden opportunity.
The Iranian regime does not want to say that it was a mistake and pretends to be a democratic Free of expression lover country despite the fact the producers of the documentary are from the conservatives. read more »
'رفض طلب العفو المقدم من قاتل مالكوم اكس للمره 13MALCOLM' PAROLE NIX
By DAREH GREGORIAN for the New York Post April 25, 2008 --He's served 43 years behind bars, and now Malcolm X's assassin is filing suit to get out of prison. In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Thomas Hagan says a parole board's decision not to release him for the 13th time is "arbitrary" and "capricious," and he wants a new hearing.
"On Feb. 21, 1965, you, and at least two others, entered a location in which innocent people had gathered in a peaceful setting," the parole decision says, referring to the Audubon Ballroom, where the civil-rights firebrand was gunned down while giving a speech. read more »

Q: Why is this story of the egyptian army's seizure of land and homes not reported in the egyptian media or anywhere on the blogsphere?
A: Because critisizing the army in any way can land you for at least year in jail. Plus, whatchu gonna do? Call them thieves? Can't really steal what you already own, and they own all of our asses. You know why? Cause they got guns and we don't. Yay for Gun Control Laws.
Sigh…

So far, WMDs have remained in the hands of the ‘good guys’ - those who put freedom and democracy as a high ideals - at least towards their own people. What would happen when a dictatorship [minus Pakistan because it is an ‘ally’] gets hold of those weapons? What happens when a fascist country takes control of the world? No, it is not Iran - it is the path that these United States are taking now under the guidance of Cheney and the total irreverence of Bush and his administration - not to mention the total impotence of the democrats. read more »
america does not torture - just ask maher
I had to be the first to go see Rendition, a movie featuring Reese Witherspoon, Meryl Streep, Omar Metwally and Jake Gyllenhaal. Rendition tells the story of an Egyptian/American [Omar Metwally] who lived in the States since he was 14 and married an American woman [Witherspoon]. On the way back from one of his trips overseas he is secretly detained, his information wiped off the passenger list, and is shipped to a ‘North African’ country whose name was tactfully not mentioned, where he was tortured in order to extract information from him about a terrorist group. read more »
