Craziness is a Disease in Egypt
I like to consider myself somewhat of an accurate analyst but sometimes the context of Egypt politics and social peculiarities are too much for me to comprehend so I resort to sitting back and accepting it as one of those things that make the country what it is…an upside down mess.
The most recent mess is this insane so called “Fatwa” by the Egyptian Sheikh of Al Azhar, Mohammed Tantawy. He gave a speech Monday in front of an audience that included Hosni Mubarak, stating that “those who spread rumors” should recieve 80 lashes, in reference to the recent indictment of journalists.

The Egyptian Blogger Amr Gharbeia, sent an Email on the Egyptian Bloggers Mailing List today asking us to participate in Global Voices Online, by translating some of the Egyptian Blog Posts written in Arabic during the last few days into English, in order to help the Egyptian Blogospher get more coverage there. So, I'll give it a try here and looking forward to hearing your feedback. DOES MASTURBATION BREAK RAMADAN FASTING?
Since Ramadan is coming in the late summer/early fall this year and the day is known to be longer and thus more boring than winter fasting days I think of things people can do to 'entertain their fasting' or 'salli syamhom' as they say and since I was wondering about the simple pleasures that we're allowed and not allowed to do during Ramadan days I started to wonder if masturbation breaks the fast... RAMADAN IS BACK!!
Last year one of my friends witnessed a big street fight that took place down town in Ramadan because of a girl wearing cut off sleeves during fasting hours. Some guy kept insulting her because of her utter insensibility exposing her arms and parts of her shoulders during fasting hours. How dare she leave her house in the hot hours of the Ramadan day not covering her arms? yalahwy!! They must have thought that she planned to expose her skin to lure fasting men into fantasizing about her luscious arms and loosing their spiritual status of suppressing desire during fasting... yeah right... so it wasn't because of the hot whether?
