Who killed El-Hajj??

Egyptian chronicles - Fri, 2007-12-21 14:03 By Zeinobia

Who really was behind the blast which killed General François El-Hajj ??

This terrorist act for sure will be included in the Lebanese Murder X-files , and it is one hell of a long archives of Blasts for sure . Who was behind it will be the ultimate question with no official answer ,just like the rest of the blasts and assassination in Lebanon.

Yet the death of the man who could have been the commander of the Lebanese army should not be closed immediately or to be forgotten easily because it did not only throw its dark shadow on the Lebanese Presidential election issue but it may throw to its dark shadow on even further like that.  read more »

Yamli: Search in Arabic

Cairene's Nilometer - Mon, 2007-11-19 10:28 By Cairene

Yamli is absolutely brilliant. I’ve spent the last half hour at a loss for how to express my happiness with it. It’s a website that let’s you enter transliterated Arabic which it converts into arabic script. For me, that’s enough. But it also lets you search in google and provides an editor for longer pieces.

Thanks to the Arabist for the pointer.

A Summer Blessing?

Living in Egypt - Thu, 2007-07-12 16:46 By Maryanne Stroud Gabbani
Christian Science Monitor is not a newspaper that most people who know me would assume that I'd read right off the bat. It is, however, a very good one with articles that are not simply rehashes of various wire service stories. The one that will come up if you click on the title here is one of the good ones about the mixed blessing of Arab tourism.
