The Arabs and the West
One of the confusing things I noticed between my Arab friends, is how divided they are – when it comes to their opinion about the west. They either think of it as the source of conspiracies theories, fake liberties and double standards or “the model” the Arab world should blindly follow.
I seldom met someone who is half way between both opinions..
So here comes my two questions to you (whether you are a western or an Arab):
1. Changing tables, are your western acquaintances divided in the same way towards Arabs? or is it different? does that have anything to do with cultural background?
2. Also I’m interested to know the definition for “the west” in your context?
The High Dam : A Bless Or A Curse
Hopefully insh Allah this will not be the last post about the high dam jubilee

Unfortunately we did not celebrate it as it should because of the heavy rains that hit Aswan. We were supposed to have more celebrations especially that three countries are participating in the event : Egypt , Russia "for its huge support" and Syria 'as we were one country then'. It is great anniversary for sure and it is sad that younger generations do not know or understand its importance or its controversy. read more »

Brothers Gonna Work It Out… or Big Trouble in Little Manial??? : تي بي يي للترجمة

This is why democracy sucks: Sometimes you get results you don’t like. Today’s story, variations of which appeared in a number of independent papers, deals with the case of Essam al-Erian, probably the best-known Brotherhood leader in the West, because he always seems to be quoted in stories about the movement. read more »
