misleading the country and brainwashing the people with the press and the ‘patriotism police’
In a dictatorship? in the Arab World? we are used to that I guess - brainwashing and misleading. We have become acclimated to that, capable of differentiating between truths and lies even if we do very little about them.
But in the US, while brainwashing is subtle, the misleading has been so open, so unabashed, that it is as though the administration decided to ‘test’ the degree of acceptance and obedience of the American people. Their lies exposed how utterly vulnerable the majority of main-stream America were.

Iraqi Mandaeans Face Torture, Extortion
An important story from Betsy Hiel in yesterday’s Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:
ERBIL, Iraq — Humam Abdel Jabar sits on a bench in a friend’s jewelry shop. Shoulders hunched, head down, he nervously plays with his fingers while recounting a tale of kidnapping and torture that is familiar to many Iraqis.
In April, “four armed men wearing face masks came at 8 o’clock at night and broke down the door of my house,” the tall, dark-eyed man with a full moustache wearily recounts.
They shoved him into a car trunk and drove to a nearby house, then blindfolded and bound him. read more »

saddam: single and lives in alabama
Well this is what ‘his’ MySpace entry says. Some funny guy posted an entry under Saddam Hussein’s name: “I AM SADDAM,HELLO EVERYONE” - Male - 71 years old - Alabama - United States - Single - Capricorn.
I just though it was funny. Not sure if the poster who posted it meant it as fun. I hope he meant it as a joke. The point is, while I am against the war in Iraq, Saddam was no ‘hero’. If those are Arab heroes, then pleeeeease… NO MORE heroes.

Iraq: Was it Really Worth it?
4 years have passed since that day in April when that great Arab capital fell to the American occupation. With weak intelligence, W insisted on wrecking havoc in Iraq. He even borrowed the bogus story about the Yellow Cake purchase request by Iraq from Niger to justify the invasion, eventhough the story has been discredited by CIA sources... After being proven wrong on the WMD cause for the war
"A mythical and historical narrative"
When Zbigniew Brzezinski, former U.S. national security adviser, talks about the Middle East and US Foreign Policy, people ought to listen. His prognosis for the region is more than grim, its ominous and very alarming. "Testifying before the Senate foreign relations committee Thursday, Brzezinski skewered U.S. administration policy as driven by "imperial hubris" and a disaster on historic,
It doesn't matter what Iran says... the neocons will have their way
Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said here on Wednesday that Iran is committed to peaceful use of nuclear energy. [rest of article] Its remarkable that the world would probably allow the US and Israel to attack Iran on even more circumstantial "evidence" than was demonstrated before Iraq was attacked in 2003. Apparently three years is long enough for the lies and fabrications
Egyptian identity and Arabism
It is really Strange what’s going on in Egypt ! In the 21st century ridiculous questions that should have been settled long time ago are still going on. The most alarming of them all is are we Arabs or Pharaohs? Indeed, a very ridiculous question. I cant understand how come Egypt is constantly dreaming of reviving its glorious past while Egyptians still don’t know who they are.
The answer to that ridiculous question doesn’t really take a noble prize winner to answer. It is a self-evident fact that Egypt is Arabic. And what’s more, it has always been ever since man went out of caves and will remain like that until the day mankind is perished.
