Just got back from seeing it. I agree with everyone that it is a really well made movie. Nice presentation of moral dilemmas and a deep script for a comic book movie. I like Nolan anyhow and the acting was great all around.
I was really disappointed in what seemed like a propaganda line running through the movie though. It is the Bush line. "You are fighting an enemy that is irrational. In these situations heroes/good guys need to suspend common rules and retrains in order to fight this "irrational" enemy."
It was explicit to the point of directly endorsing Bush's wire tapping argument. It made the same argument for bush on three vital contentious issues: torture, civil liberties vs privacy/civil rights, and portraying the enemy as illogical/mad. By the end of the movie to complete the pictures people are just referring to the joker as a terrorist.
To me this was somewhat disturbing, more so then the the Joker, watching it and sensing the sophistication in the messaging but maybe I was just over-analyzing.
what do you think? watch it and see if you can pick up the strain of underlying argumentation.
